Baby Shaker Card

Make this cute shaker card featuring baby items in the bottom of the wardrobe and 3D drawers with "brass" knobs. I adhered a few of the items to the back so at least some would stay in place while the others floated around when shook.

Making the Card

1. Cut light brown cardstock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base. Cut pink polka dot patterned paper to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches. Adhere to card base.

2. Stamp light brown and dark brown cardstock with Wood Plank stamp using VersaMark ink. Cut dark brown cardstsock to just a hair under 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches - this will line the back of the Baby Wardrobe.

3. With Baby Wardrobe die, cut one from fun foam* and one from stamped light brown cardstock (step 2). Optional: color fun foam with Copic E84 on all inside edges, continuing over top edge. This will hide the white. Alternatively you may use brown fun foam. Die cut drawers from both the stamped light brown cardstock (fronts) and fun foam (I used the pieces that came out of the shelves). Color edges with Copic. Adhere drawer fronts to fun foam. *I bought thick fun foam with adhesive on back. If your fun foam is thin and/or doesn't have adhesive, you may want to add adhesive as necessary and layer two before die cutting.

4. Cut recycled clear plastic packaging 2 x 3 3/8 inches. Adhere to back of light brown stamped piece in bottom rectangle - be sure it adheres to all sides. Line up and adhere to fun foam (the window should be sandwiched between the front panel and the fun foam).

5. From cardstock, die cut a couple dresses (pink) and boy outfits (blue) plus several ducks (bright yellow), elephants (gray), giraffe (light yellow), and baseballs (white). From Shimmer Sheetz, die cut several hearts (red), stars (yellow), and hangers (silver). Optional: adhere a few of these to the stamped dark brown sheet in the area that will be behind the window (take care to insure they are completely inside). Add all pieces to the shaker area; one side usually looks better than the other - I made sure to face the best side towards the window. Optional: add a few sequins and beads. Adhere the dark brown sheet facing forward so that the wood grain will show in front.

6. Die cut six dresser knobs from Kraft-Core Metallic gold cardstock. Shape them by rubbing on the back of each with a small ball stylus. Glue to front of each drawer as shown. Adhere drawers in wardrobe as shown.

7. Die cut 2 or 3 copies of doll and sailboat from white cardstock. Color one copy with colored pencils or markers. Glue each in a stack with the colored copy on top. Fold legs forward on doll. Adhere doll and boat to top shelf as shown.

8. Die cut "bundle of joy" from blue cardstock. Optional: add Wink of Stella. Add Glossy Accents. Once dry, adhere to top of wardrobe as shown. Adhere wardrobe to card front.

Baby Shower Invite

This slightly interactive card has drawers that open to see the information inside (Date, Time, Place). I made it in pink but of course it can be made in other colors such as blue or yellow. I used a wood plank stamp with VersaMark ink to give the drawers a subtle wood like pattern.

Making the Card

1. Cut light gray cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half for a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base.

2. Cut pink newsprint patterned paper 2 1/2 x 3 1/8 inches. Ink edges with Smokey Gray VersaFine. Sand and rough up edges. Add more ink if desired. Cut dark gray cardstock 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Adhere inked newsprint to dark gray as shown. Wrap a piece of trim around the front, gluing down then attaching on each side in back. Adhere to card base.

3. Die cut Onsie from pink/white polka dot paper. Stamp "You're invited to a" and "party" on the front as shown in Smokey Gray VersaFine ink. Adhere to card as shown using dimensional tape.

4. Stamp wood grain on light gray cardstock using VersaMark ink (you could also use a slightly darker gray ink). Die cut Little Dresser. Also die cut Little Dresser from silver metallic cardstock - keep knobs only.

5. With Smokey Gray VersaFine ink stamp "Date", "Time", and "Place" on front of the three longer drawers (if you don't want the colons ":" you will have to mask them or remove the ink with your finger before stamping).

6. Cut three strips of thick white paper or thin cardstock to just under 3/8 inches by 2 5/8 inches; fold in half. Write the date, time, and place on the right side insides if you are creating invitations and know the information. Carefully glue drawers to the fronts making sure none of the white shows.

7. Cut white cardstock 1 5/8 x 2 1/8 inches; glue behind dresser frame, lining up near top. Adhere drawers. Adhere knobs - I added the gray knobs first then the silver ones so they would sit up a little higher. Use dimensional tape to adhere dresser as shown.

8. Adhere buttons where shown.

Stitched Bear Hello Card

This card was created with the new March release Frantic Stamper dies. The bear dies come with pierced holes around the edges that may be used with thread for real stitches but I chose to use a Soufflé gel pen as faux stitching. You may also use these dies on material, such as felt. You can pose the bear arms to make them hold something but I chose to make him wave, like he's also wishing you "Hello."

Making the Card

1. Cut light purple cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base.

2. Optional: add clear double sided adhesive to back of dark purple cardstock and matching patterned paper. Die cut dark purple cardstock and matching patterned paper with Colorblock #2 Panel. You will not use the inside pieces of the dark purple nor the frame of the patterned paper (save for another card!). Adhere dark purple frame to center of card base. Adhere patterned pieces inside where the fit.

3. Using the Felt Teddy Bear dies, cut two inside ear pieces, muzzle, and two foot pads from light brown cardstock. Cut two outside ear pieces, head, body, two feet, and arms from brown cardstock. Cut face from black cardstock. Add White Soufflé gel pen between stitches on all parts (except face). Optional: add shine on nose and highlights to eyes.

4. Assemble bear as shown (use dimensional tape behind feet). Optional: before adding eyes, apply a little black chalk where eyes will go; you may also add eyelashes with a fine black pen (I used a black Copic Multiliner .05). Adhere bear to card where shown using dimensional tape.

5. Die cut "Hello" from dark purple cardstock. Add Glossy Accents. Once dry, adhere to card as shown.

Hedgehog Love Card

Here's a cute card that is perfect for Valentine's day or to tell someone you love them. It was created with Frantic Stamper dies and colored with Copic markers. The background can be varied in pattern by using different colors if desired.

Making the Card

1. Cut red cardstock 4 1/4 x 11 inches. Fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/5 inch top folding card base.

2. Cut 3 hearts and the word "Lovely" from red cardstock. Trim ends of "Lovely" to just "Love". Optional: coat each with clear Wink of Stella or other clear glitter pen. Add Glossy Accents to all and set aside to dry.

3. Follow these instructions carefully. Cut a piece of clear double sided adhesive just a hair smaller than the size of the die. Die cut pink cardstock but leave the pieces in the die. You may need to use a metal cutting plate due to the detail. Remove one backing sheet on adhesive. Carefully line up and stick to die cut pieces. Be sure to rub all over, especially on the small triangles at the edges. You may even want to use your die pick to gently push the smaller pieces into the adhesive. Now remove the die cuts as one piece. You may have to replace a few stubborn pieces by hand. Stick to center of card front. Note: you could cut the clear double sided adhesive larger, then trim down after the pieces are in place.

4. Add double sided adhesive to a piece of white cardstock just larger than the die. Die cut from cardstock side (so adhesive will be on the back). Remove white frame from die and carefully adhere over pink frame on card. Hint: I exposed the top part of the adhesive, cutting off the backing sheet just at the top, lined up the bottom and stuck the top down; then I removed the rest of the backing. This made it easier for me to line it all up.

5. Die cut two copies of baby hedgehogs from alcohol marker friendly cardstock. On one copy of each, cut off the hair and discard the rest. These will be layered on top; color these with hair colors. On the full copies, color the hair parts in a mid or dark matching hair color so they won't be so noticeable under the top layer. Note: the list of Copic colors I used is below the supplies. Color the bodies. I used darker colors to fill in eyes and nose on each (lighter on the girl). To give them some dimension and shine, I used Tuxedo Black Pico Embellisher on the boy's eyes and nose and Desert Sand on the girl's (it is rather transparent so be sure to color with brown first).

6. Adhere hair to each hedgehog using dimensional tape. Adhere hedgehogs to card front as shown using dimensional tape. Adhere hearts and "Love" where shown.

Chester Whipper Snapper Greeting/Easter Card

This card can be given as a simple greeting card or as a cute Easter card. Chester the bunny is adorably curious as to what's going on with the ladybug (or maybe he's just smelling the daisy).

I used my new Peerless watercolors to paint the image. This was the first time using Peerless. The colors came out nice and vibrant but they have a lot of staining power, even on professional watercolor paper (I used Arches Hot Press) so don't make a mistake! More than likely, it won't lift out.

Making the Card

1. Cut light turquoise cardstock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base. Cut dark turquoise cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Adhere to card base. Cut plaid patterned cardstock to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches. Adhere to card base.

2. Stamp Chester on watercolor paper with VersaFine Onyx Black ink (or other waterproof ink). Be sure it is completely dry before applying watercolor (you may want to heat set it). Watercolor image - for this one I used Peerless Watercolors.

3. Die cut image with stitched circle (bit less than 3 3/8 inches). Die cut dark turquoise cardstock with next sized up stitched circle. Adhere dark turquoise circle where shown. Adhere image using dimensional tape in center of dark turquoise circle.

4. Die cut 4 or 5 copies of "hello" from dark turquoise cardstock and one from light turquoise cardstock. Glue together in a stack, with the light copy on top, to form a thick word. Adhere to card as shown.

Birthday Stitched Tag Card

This fun birthday card is so festive with its bright colors, explosion of sequins "confetti," and the wild look of twine flowing off the end of the tag. I love the little details, like the stitching on the tag, the balloons in the background, and the swirly designs. These are not colors I would normally use together but I let the Doodlebug Designs paper dictate the color palette; the 6x6 pad comes with all the papers necessary to create this card (except for the white cardstock base).

Making the Card

1. Cut white cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base.

2. From the Doodlebug Designs Hip Hip Hooray 6x6 pad, find the teal/orange paper (use the teal side); cut it to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Adhere to card base. Find the sheet with balloons and clouds; cut it to 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches. Adhere to card base. Find the orange dotted sheet; cut it to 1 1/2 x 4 inches. Adhere where shown.

3. Find the sheet with yellow stars; die cut with large tag from Frantic Stamper Nested Tags #2. Stamp "smile" and "it's your birthday" (Lawn Fawn Year Three) where shown using Memento Luxe Danube Blue ink - note the spacing for swirly designs.

4. Cut yellow/white and teal/white twine about 5 inches each. Tie through tag hole. Adhere tag as shown. Optional: put a dot of glue on the white border where you would like each strand of twine to sit and adhere such that they are slightly relaxed looking (i.e. don't make them taught). Trim if necessary.

5. Die cut shown Swirly Things (Frantic Stamper) from orange and teal. Adhere to card. Die cut gift (Nested Tags #2) from orange and teal, being careful to keep all orange dots. Cut ribbon/bow from orange gift and adhere to teal gift; adhere to card as shown. Glue in orange dots.

6. Adhere sequins where shown.
