About Me

Hello and welcome!

Thank you for visiting Awash with Color! If you like my work, you might want to also subscribe to my YouTube channel, check out my Pinterest page (the section "My Creations" has a nice photo gallery of most of my work), or visit me on Instagram (this is where I typically post behind-the-scenes and preview stuff). Also, consider liking my Facebook page if you want to see some of my stuff in your feed; alternatively, I have a Google Plus account. Know that I appreciate every subscribe, comment, thumbs up, and like!

On Awash with Color, you will find tutorials, tips, and whatever else I can think of to share... mostly related to art, stamping, painting, scrapbooking, coloring, etc., but no guarantees (a stray board game mention or other interest may pop up).

I basically have three jobs, I'm a professional photographer (the majority of my work is commercial photography for board game companies but I also do portrait art, such as digital paintings), designer and blogger, and board game reviewer on Opinionated Gamers (I also do convention coverage for Board Game News). Hobbies include photography, arts & crafts, board gaming, martial arts, and P90X.

I am Certified Copic Instructor (highest level) and formerly a Class Instructor for Michaels (PaperEd: scrapbooking, card making, Copic coloring). My first design team (DT) was for Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD, 2014), followed by ECD's Susan Tierney-Cockburn's DT (2015 - part of 2016) then finally back to the ECD team for the rest of 2016. I was also part of the Oak Tree Stamps DT (2015), Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Artist in Residence Program (2016), Frantic Stamper DT Jan/Feb 2017 and Rubbernecker Stamps DT (Sep 2017-Jan 2018). I was a guest designer for Paper Smooches (October 2016) and Your Next Stamp (May 2017). I am currently on the Dreamerland Crafts and Xyron Design Teams.

Although these were not my main focus, I worked in art and photography throughout high school and college, taking classes in drawing and photography.

Background

I worked for many years in the computer industry, including US Army Tank Automotive Commend (Operations Research), Electronic Data Systems (EDS) - General Motors account (including work for Center for Machine Intelligence), University of Michigan (Center for AI), General Motors Research, FAAC Inc. (subcontractor for Loral Defense and US Air Force), contractor to Ford Motor Company, contractor to Flour Daniel, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina (Physics & Astronomy Dept.). Degrees and Certificates: French Translation Certificate, B.A. Mathematics, B.S. Computer Science (Oakland University), M.S. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Vision (University of Michigan).

Machine Vision, in simple terms, is intelligent image processing. This segued nicely into digital photography. I actually worked under the same professor as Tom Knoll, the original author of Adobe Photoshop. I visited Tom at his home back then; he gave me a copy of the beta C code for Photoshop, which was written on a Mac.
