Lovely White Lace Faux Embossed Card

Made as part of the Frantic Stamper Design Team

I love the look of white on white - it looks especially elegant with lacy designs. This technique mimics the look of embossing using dies. I added "Lovely" as a shiny focal point using silver cardstock popped up with fun foam. The lacy edging could easily have backing by extending the base of the card in back but I liked the lighter look without it. This would make a nice card for a bridal shower or just to give a woman in your life as a reminder of how special she is.

Making the Card

1. Cut white cardstock to 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Fold in half for a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base.

2. Using the Lace Geometric Flower Doily die, cut 3 or 4 copies from white cardstock (if you are careful you can use the parts you clip off rather than cutting as many copies). Use a clear mat glue to adhere to front of card where shown. Note: alternatively you may add adhesive (Xyron) or clear double-sided tape to the back before die cutting. Open the card and clip off any pieces hanging off edges using scissors; close the card and from the back clip any hanging off the top being careful not to cut the crease.

3. Adhere silver cardstock to fun foam. Die cut Lovely. Adhere where shown.

4. Die cut Lovely Arched Loop Edger (both pieces) from white cardstock, leaving a little extra on the bottom. Adhere to inside front of card (be sure the good side is facing outwards so you see it from the front). Watch that you don't get glue on the parts that will show. Also you may want to measure so the card doesn't go past 5 1/2 inches when this is added. Clip off any extra overhanging the sides of the card.

Let's Play Kaboodle Dog Card with Faber-Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils

The adorable doggie footprint border, stitching, and stitched tag dies are new from Frantic Stamper, as part of their March release. The Whipper Snapper Kaboodle dog is perfect for the tag (a little bit has been cropped but enough shows to be super cute). The background is also by Whipper Snapper; background Dog's Life was stamped in VersaMark ink to provide a subtle pattern. This ink is great for watermarking - it looks like you stamped in a darker toned ink that perfectly matches the paper.

I used Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils to color the image. These pencils are easily blended with a light hand.

Making the Card

1. Cut Desert Storm cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base.

2. Cut Kraft cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Die cut scallop border very close to the left side (Large Scalloped Edger Set); die cut paw prints (keep a couple of the footprints for an optional inside decoration). Die cut stitching down the right side (In Stitches #3). Stamp Dog's Life background using VersaMark ink in center (I recommend using a stamp positioner). Die cut a strip of black cardstock, about 1 x 5 1/4 inches, with scallop border. Adhere behind footprints; trim if necessary. Adhere to card front.

3. Stamp Kaboodle in black ink on Desert Storm cardstock (about 3 x 4 1/2 inches). Color with colored pencils. Die cut with largest Nested Tags #2. Tie jute through tag hole. Adhere to card as shown using dimensional tape.

4. Cut a 3/4 x 3 1/8 inch strip of Desert Storm Cardstock. Stamp "let's PLaY" and two paw prints as shown. Cut tails in one side. Adhere to card as shown using dimensional tape.

5. Optional: glue a couple footprints inside the card (I put two on the bottom right - adhered after some of the photos were taken).

Inlay Hearts Valentine's Day Card

The new Large Scalloped Edger Set from Frantic Stamper (just released) has this cool line of hearts that conveniently fits inside the coordinating scalloped edge die. But it may also be used on its own; here I used it to create inlayed hearts.

Making the Card

1. Cut white cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches; fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base. Find the middle and carefully line up the hearts die in the center (watch that it does not cut the sides of the card - if too difficult, you may want to make a larger card. Alternatively you could make a separate piece then, once done with these steps, glue it to a card base. Once the middle row has been cut, cut a row above and below it. You may discard the inside pieces.

2. Cut a sheet of thin white cardstock (or this paper) just smaller than the card front (maybe 1/16 inch smaller in each dimension). Adhere clear double sided adhesive to back and trim down if necessary. Adhere to the backside of the front card panel (i.e. behind the hearts). Keep the release sheet and place over front to protect it for now.

3. Die cut hearts in gray cardstock, keeping the pieces intact if possible (otherwise, just try to keep each heart's pieces together). Take the pieces of one heart and piece them into the top left heart; peel up release in that corner, or move the release sheet to under the heart - it will help prevent your hand and other things from getting into the sticky parts. Hint: use tweezers to hold the pieces as you place them. Repeat this process with the plaid paper, piecing into the next top row heart, ditto for the pink then the red hearts. Continue this process for the next two rows following the pattern shown in the photos.

4. Add adhesive to the back of some red cardstock. Stick to red fun foam and die cut Love (if not using fun foam, you may stack a few die cuts, gluing them together one at a time, to form a thick word). Optional: add Glossy Accents to top for some shine.

5. Adhere Love to card as shown. Adhere sequins to card where shown.

Gorgeous Dress Card

This is my first post as part of the Frantic Stamper Design Team. The theme of the month is Feminine Style. This cute little dress in pink fits the bill perfectly! Send this to a girlfriend, daughter, or other woman in your life who needs a little pick-me-up to brighten her day.

Making the Card

1. Cut dark pink cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. Fold in half to form a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base. Cut light pink cardstock 4 x 4 1/4. Adhere to card base. Cut pale pink cardstock to 3 3/4 x 4 inches.

2. Using the stitches die shown, die cut long edges of pale pink cardstock. Adhere to card base.

3. Using Pleated Dress dies, cut one top and two skirts from light pink cardstock. Emboss dots on one and fold so that the middle pleat is up and then do the side pleats, following the stitched lines. Cut the three right segments off the non-embossed skirt (i.e. cut just to the left of the 3rd stitched line counting from the right). Adhere embossed/folded skirt to plain copy, being sure to glue the sides as well as the two pleats touching the back. Hint: use a glue that will dry clear and mat.

4. Add Rhubarb Crumble Nuvo Crystal Drops to top. Set aside to dry.

5. Using the gorgeous die, cut two copies from light pink cardstock and one from pink. Glue the light pink copies together. Glue the pink copy slightly offset on top.

6. Tie a bow out of the pale pink ribbon.

7. Adhere skirt, top, bow, and gorgeous die cuts as shown.
